2020 Porsche 911 Targa Spied At The Nurburgring

The upcoming 2020 Porsche 911 Targa has been spied wearing very little camo, testing at the famous Nurburgring circuit. The 992 edition of the convertible 911 looks to carry on the tradition of top-down 911s. The only little tidbit that was hidden in these spy shots was a black tape presumably hiding the 'Targa' badge at the rear of the car. Even with these, the Targa is easily identifiable thanks to its signature removable roof design.
In the spy shots, the 911 Targa sports a flashy red body colour along with a black roof and pillar combination that is a signature design trait of the Targa generation. For those that were hoping to see roof-less pics, unfortunately, those are unlikely to be available until Porsche officially releases the 2020 Targa. Another reason why the 911 Targa hasn't been spotted with the roof down, could be due to the fact that is testing the roof's structural integrity. Such testing is necessary to iron out any kinks to avoid a failure at high speeds.
The images further reveal that the 2020 Targa takes design cues from the 992 where the lower-strip of the tail-lights has clearer lens compared to the upper strip. Just like its 992 counterparts, the 2020 Targa gets a quad tailpipe option with twin oval outlets stacked on either side, just like its predecessors.
At the front of the car, the headlights, front bumper and body panels look to be carried over from other current gen (992) variants. At the rear however, in traditional Targa fashion, it differentiates itself from other convertibles with its metal finish roll-over bar and rear windscreen.
There's no word yet on performance figures for the new 911 Targa, but it is expected to be an all-wheel drive powertrain like its previous two generations. The current 992 range uses a 450PS/ 530Nm, 3.0-litre bi-turbo boxer six engine. The 911 Targa, however, could get a slightly more beefed up version of this engine like it has done in the past as well.
The current 992 edition of the Porsche 911 was launched globally in late November last year and arrived at Indian shores on 11 April 2019. The launch timeline for the 2020 Porsche 911 Targa is yet to be revealed, but we can expect Porsche to give more clarity on this by the fag end of this year.
