No Price Cut For 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400

  • Reports online suggested a price cut of Rs 3,732 for the 2019 Dominar 400.
  • Bajaj claims the revised pricing displayed on the website was because of a technical glitch.
  • The 2019 Dominar 400 continues to retail for Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
  • Even at this price point, the 2019 Dominar 400 continues to be a value for money proposition.

Contrary to what you might have seen on the internet, Bajaj has not dropped the price of the 2019 Dominar 400. The revised pricing on the website was because of a technical glitch. The power cruiser continues to retail for Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The unexpected price drop, that too by a significant margin (Rs 3,732), did seem a bit strange. So, we got in touch with a few officials at Bajaj, who then confirmed the price drop was because of a bug on the website.

On the bright side though, Bajaj’s 2019 update for the Dominar 400 is quite comprehensive and comes at an acceptable premium over the older model (Rs 10,000 more). The biggest change here comes in the form of a reworked engine.

While it essentially packs the same 373.3cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, the company has updated it with DOHC (Dual Overhead Camshaft) setup and a higher compression ratio of 12.1:1. This, along with ECU retuning, helps the 2019 Dominar 400 develop an additional 5PS at 8650rpm over the older model, which made 35PS at 7000rpm.

Other changes include USD forks, a revised instrument console and minor cosmetic updates. The rear suspension setup has also seen some changes in a bid to improve the ride quality. Bajaj also ditched the golden alloys for two-tone diamond-cut wheels. All this, at a price of Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) doesn’t seem that bad then, does it? Not to mention, it’s way better equipped than its arch-rival, the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 (Rs 2.06 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi).
