We had earlier reported that Suzuki is working on the 2019 Gixxer (150). Now, images of the upcoming motorcycle have been leaked online. The leaked brochure scans reveal the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer’s tank extensions look similar to the leaked brochure images of the upcoming Gixxer 250. This indicates that Suzuki has gone with a common design language for its new-gen Gixxers. The halogen headlamp has been replaced with a sleeker, slightly retro-looking LED unit. Take a closer look at the shape of the instrument cluster housing and you’ll realise that it looks similar to the one in the 2019 Gixxer SF.

Even the tail section and the exhaust design looks similar to the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF. Compared to the current-gen Gixxer, the upcoming iteration comes with split seats for a slightly sportier stance. Also, just like the current-gen Gixxer SF, the kick lever is missing in this motorcycle. Expect Suzuki to plonk in the same engine as the 2019 Gixxer SF with the same tune. It is likely to pack fuel injection as standard too, in order to comply with future emission norms. This would make the 2019 iteration the first Gixxer to get fuel injection, and the bike will be BS6-ready too. In the faired bike, the 154.9cc single-cylinder motor produces 14.1PS at 8000rpm and 14Nm at 6000rpm, working in conjunction with a 5-speed transmission.

The underpinnings are shared with the outgoing Gixxer, including the same telescopic fork and rear monoshock. Brakes include disc on both ends, likely with single-channel ABS as standard. With all the aforementioned changes, expect the new-gen motorcycle to be around Rs 10,000 dearer. To give you a perspective, the current-gen Gixxer is priced at Rs 88,941 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Suzuki is likely to launch the motorcycle in late July. Once launched, it will go up against the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Yamaha FZ FI Version 3.0 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. Stay tuned for more updates!
